In the largest donation ever made to a hospital foundation in Southwestern Ontario history, the late Archie Verspeeten has donated $20 million to the London Health Sciences Foundation.
Archie, a figure in the trucking industry and champion in cancer research makes the gift just three days after his passing on Saturday.
In honour of the donation to transform cancer research the London Regional Cancer Program will be renamed to the Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre.
The donation is one which hits home for Archie who lost his wife and sons to cancer.
John H MacFarlane, President and CEO of LHSF says this donation will propel cancer treatment to new heights, enabling them to pioneer groundbreaking research, enhance patient care and effectively improve the way they operate.
