2 Large Underutilized Sites see New Ownership & Hope in the Region

Both properties have faced trespassers and vandalism while sitting vacant

Two long underutilized properties in the Region face brighter futures now that both have changed hands.

The former Midwestern Regional Centre site located between Listowel and Palmerston on Highway 23 has been purchased by a not-for-profit group entitled “Eden Grove Village”.

They have no definite plans yet for the 240 acres site which last houses the Cham Shan Temple and then sat vacant.

The other being the site the former Bluewater Youth Centre on Highway 21 between Goderich and Bayfield has been acquired by the Municipality of Central Huron from Infrastructure Ontario.

They have budgeted $5 million dollars for both the purchase of the 300 acre lakeshore property and remediation.

They expect the latter to take up to 2 years to complete.

No plans have been announced as to what they are looking to do with the property at this point.
