Auxiliary members assist in the delivery of traffic safety and community-based crime prevention initiatives.
Some of their duties may consist of:
- Community Policing
- Crime Prevention Initiatives
- Community Events
- Patrol
- OPP Special Events
- Public Service
Auxiliary Members must be able to commit to 10 hours of patrol per month, plus an additional 6 hours of trianing.
Candidates must be a minimum of:
- 18 years of age
- a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- possess a G driver’s license with no more than 6 demerit points
- must have a Secondary School Diploma or equivalent,
- certified in Standard First Aid and CPR
- must not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been received or an absolute/conditional discharge that has not been sealed
Candidates must also be mentally and physically able to perform the duties of an Auxiliary member.
All successful applicants also must successfully complete a 7 day Auxiliary Recruit Training Course.
