Minto Supporting Change to Hold Elected Officials Accountable for Harassment

Minto is joining other municipalities across Ontario to call for changes to the Ontario Municipal Act to hold elected officials accountable for workplace violence and harassment.

The group, Ontario Women Say No wrote to Minto council to ask for support for their movement.

As it stands the only punishment for an elected official faces for violence or harassment is a 90 day suspension of pay.

The Women of Ontario Say No is also calling for a public inquiry by the Ontario Human Rights Commission on the topic.
