Mapleton to Launch Citizen of the Year in Honour of John Ford

Mapleton will be launching a Citizen of the Year award in memory of beloved Drayton resident John Ford.

Ford passed away on March 26th at the age of 64. Mapleton as noted by Councilor Marlene Ottens has a Senior Citizen of the Year award but not a Citizen of the Year.

Mayor Gregg Davidson voiced his support for the award saying he can’t think of anyone else to name it after than John Ford.

Ottens also noted she talked with Ford’s family on the idea who are in favour of the honour and would like to be involved in choosing the recipient.

Ford was well known by residents at Drayton Foodland where he had worked for 36 years.
