They say when fat, oils and grease are poured into drains, the liquid cools and forms a hardened mass in your sewer pipe, which over time can block sewage flow.
They say to avoid sewage backups and help protect the environment by following a few simple tips.
- Wipe out greasy pots, pans & utensils with a paper towel before placing in the sink
- Place grease & food scraps into a green bin (when available) for curbside collection
- Use a strainer on the sink to catch food scraps and other solids
- Place grease in a cup or jar and store it. Once it solidifies properly dispose or use in suet feeders for birds

- Do not pour grease down the sink or in the toilet
- Do not rinse grease down the sink.
- Do not use cloth towels or rags to wipe off plates or greasy dishware
