As the Listowel Memorial Hospital continues to work with a temporary suspension of Obstetric Services, plans are in place to support patients and prepare for the reopening in the fall.
In March it was announced the obstetrics department would be closed until mid-September as six to eight full time registered nurses in the department would be off for maternity leave.
The OB team has plans to host an outpatient clinic two days per week during the suspension. OB Nursing Education refreshers will also be a focus over the summer.
The Listowel Memorial Hospital Alliance says with only two staff being relatively new to OB, its their priority to help support them to maintain their skills.
