WOSHL issues Press Release saying Its Officials Being Threatened with Suspensions

The Western Ontario Junior Hockey League issued a press release early this morning in order in regard to issues the league says it is having in securing officiating for its upcoming season.

The league is for players 20 years and older with league saying it offers competitive hockey playing and continued development. The league has teams across Southwestern Ontario including Erin, Stratford, Plattsville and Elora.

In the release, the league says its officials are being threatened behind the scenes by Hockey Canada, OHA, Alliance Hockey, and the OMHA that if they work with their league they will be suspended.

The league says it is trying to work with the other leagues and not against them advising there was already an official shortage previously.

They advised that in comparison to other leagues their fees are lower as they only require the purchase of a jersey and the league covers insurance costs.
