Wingham residents have been left scratching their heads after Homecoming 2024 might be canceled.
A Facebook group dedicated to the planning of the 2024 celebration posted there would be no further plans in organizing the event.
Organizers added any questions regarding the choice to stop planning should be directed towards North Huron council.
Town Clerk Carson Lamb clarified in an email that while two members of the recently-formed Homecoming Committee had resigned from their positions, council has not cancelled the weekend.
Council established the 2024 Wingham Homecoming Committee at their Feb. 6 meeting, appointing Debbie Hodgins, Ken Hogg, Trina Huffman, Kendra Kregar, Angela McPherson and Tanya Toll as volunteer members.
Staff will now be seeking direction regarding the vacancies at a future meeting of council.
Wingham’s homecoming is planned for June 28th-July 1st next year.
