Wellington County OPP are reminding snowmobilers this winter to be riding safely.
While a great way to be out and about during the season, not taking necessary precautions can quickly lead to fatal accidents. OPP will be patrol the trails throughout the season to ensure riders are following important guidelines.
Wearing a properly fitted helmet, obeying speed limits on road/trail signs and driving only within your ability. Avoid driving on frozen lakes and rivers unless it can’t be avoided, if you must drive on frozen lakes to always check the ice beforehand and never drive impaired.
A trail permit is required to ride on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club trails.
