As far as decorative crosswalks go in Wellington North, only one honouring veterans will be permitted for Arthur and Mount Forest.
Council discussed a staff recommendation on a full ban of decorative crosswalks with the main issues revolving around the recent brutal winters which causes damage to crosswalks, safety, and maintenance.
Councilor Steve McCabe proposed to keep one in play, allowing a veterans crosswalk for both Mount Forest and Arthur.
Councilor Sherry Burke agreed with the idea, discussing with both Legion’s to find similar concepts.
“I know they’re both looking at different designs but if we can come up with something that is the same in both communities, I think that’s a win.” said Burke.
This move continues to build on veteran crosswalks being proposed in the county including in Minto which had one approved for Harriston.
