Wellington County Surplus Projected Under $3 Million

Wellington County crunched their year end surplus which is projected to be $1.8-2.5 million from this years $108.5 million dollar budget.

County staff have recommended this year surplus be used towards the range of other expenses instead of lessening the burden on taxpayers.

Ahead of next year, less money in the budget is expected to be used for policing, economic development, general expenses and supplementary taxes.

Despite a reduction in some, the rising inflation is expected to impact next year such as fuel, food for long term care residents and building materials such as steel.
