The yellow garbage bags will be replaced in Wellington County in a few years.
County council approved a switch to new garbage and green bin carts expected to be rolled out in spring 2028.
Garbage carts will be on roller wheels with flip top lids and emptied into trucks.
This comes in response to waste collection companies dealing with a drop on manual collection contracts.
On top of the new garbage collection, the county is also looking at a five day pickup schedule instead of four.
Residents will have a choice between 360, 240 and 120 litre garbage containers.
