The announcement came at a special budget meeting on Monday where treasurer Ken DeHart presided over council with the numbers.
There are projecting currently a 2.5% percent tax increase to support a 4.2 % levy increase for this year.
This would increase the levy to $110 million from $105.6 million in 2020.
A 2.5% tax increase would turn into $16 more per $100,000 thousand dollars in a property owners assessment.
Council directed staff at the meeting to go back to the numbers in effort to bring the tax increase down to 1.25 percent.
