On November 24th police were contacted after the vehicle failed to stop for a school bus while it was stopped loading kids on Tremaine Avenue South in Listowel.
The license plate was obtained and the owner, a 33 year old resident of North Perth was charged with failing to stop for a school bus.
Police say unfortunately there have been a number of similar reports throughout Perth County so they remind motorists to be safe drivers. Every driver must stop for a school bus, and driving around or past a stopped bus could have deadly consequences.
If a driver cannot be identified then the vehicle owner can be charged with the offense, provided the license plate is obtained by any witnesses.
If convicted the fines won’t be less than $400 and can reach a maximum of $2,000 for a first offense, and not less than $1,000 and $4,000 maximum or imprisonment for subsequent offences.
There is also 6 demerit points added to their license.
