Upper Thames River Watershed at Low Water Conditions

The Upper Thames River watershed is seeing low water conditions due to an unusually dry April.

The watershed has been set to level 1 Low Water conditions are part of the three tiered system used in Ontario to report on local low water conditions.

The watershed received around 51mm of precipitation last month, around 61% of the long term normal for the month. Over the past 3 months it was 46% of the normal.

Officials say they hold back on some spring runoff to raise the reservoirs in their target summer elevations.

Currently the Wildwood Reservoir is one metre below its summer target elevation
