Unemployment Dips Locally, Remains as the Lowest in Ontario

The local unemployment rate has once again been reported as the lowest in Ontario.

The unemployment rate across the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region dropped 0.1 percentage points to 5.2 per cent in April, continuing to hold steady as the lowest unemployment rate in the province for four straight months.

The goods producing sector saw a drop in overall employment numbers in April at 300 jobs with losses also seen in agriculture and construction whereas the bigger gains were in manufacturing with 800 jobs and utilities at 300.

The provincial unemployment rate remained unchanged in April at 7.5 per cent.
