An Upper Grand District School Board Teacher-Librarian has won a Prime Minister’s award. Sandra McLarnon of Spencer Avenue Elementary has won the award for Teaching Excellence.
McLarnon has been with Spencer Avenue since it opened in 2014 who is credited with building a Makerspace which has been a big presence in subjects around science and the environment.
Principal Vincent Allen in a release says McLarnon is a shining example of what it means to lead, innovate and mentor in the field of STEM education.
The Prime Minister’s Award of Teaching Excellence recognizes elementary and secondary school teachers in all disciplines for their remarkable achievements in education and their commitment to preparing youth for a digital and innovation-based economy.
