US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose 35 per cent tariffs on Canadian imports by August 1st in a letter Trump posted to social media addressed to Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Trump says Canada needs to work to stop the flow of fentanyl into the United States in order for him to consider a tariff adjustment.
Trump also pointed the supply management system in Canada’s diary sector repeating an inaccurate claim of Canada putting 400 tariffs on American Dairy farmers.
Carney responded on social media to the letter says they will continue to defend workers and businesses and work towards the now revised August 1st deadline.
