Trudeau speaks at Rideau Cottage and Dr. Tam comments on increase in cases

Prime Minster Trudeau spoke today at Rideau Cottage his first public address of 2021. In the talk Trudeau condemned those who travelled intentionally over the holiday season. He also confirmed that the federal government is closing the loophole to make sure no one who travels for non-essential reasons is able to access the recovery sickness benefit.

Directly following the talk Chief Public Health Officer of Canada Dr. Theresa Tam spoke and outlined the shocking increase in rate at which people are contracting Covid-19.

“The five months it took to reach our first 100,000 cases  is now shortened to just 2 weeks for our latest 100,000 cases.”

In terms of Covid related deaths the city of London is having to resort to refrigerated trailers in order to have a place to store those that pass away from Covid-19. The morgue in the city has reached capacity in recent days and has resulted in the drastic measure. This is the second time they have had to use the mobile solution since the start of the pandemic.
