TJ’s Taxi Requesting Rate Increase in North Huron

Similar to what was seen in North Perth late last year, TJ’s Taxi is requesting an increase in tariff rates for services within North Huron.

The call is due to an increase in gas prices, insurance, maintenance and wages.

As of Friday morning certain stations in town and Wingham have reported prices of 1.72 for fuel.

James Cowan, owner of TJ’s Taxi in a letter saying they can no longer absorb the increased costs to maintain the level of services requested by the public.

A suggestion of an extra $1 to the existing flat rate and an increase to $2.25 per kilometer is proposed.

An increased in fees will be considered and discussed in North Huron council.
