The Province Announces a boost to Direct Care for Long Term Care Residents

The Province has announced a boost to direct care for long term care residents.

The increase will see each resident get an average of four hours per day. The care will be provided by a combination of nurses or personal support workers to support clinical and personal care needs.

The targets are being phases in to achieve the standard by 2024-25.

Progress will be measured and reported regularly.

Education and recruitment will also be modified and will see an additional 37 hundred front line workers join the health workforce.
