Support Continues to Pour in for Kinkora School Playground Upgrades

The community of Kinkora has kept busy as of late fundraising to upgrade their playground.

The project which started at the start of this year as the current structure of the playground is over 25 years and reaching the end of its life.

Meetings were held with parent council and the principal at St Patricks school to begin the project.

Alison Straus, a volunteer of the St Patrick’s School Kinkora Playground Project says the new playground will be all about accessibility for all.

“In our new design, new ramps for children who are struggling with the steps at our previous one. We have an accessible tractor unit, a large tractor the kids can play which also promotes group play which also our previous playground did not have.” said Straus.

Perth East council recently pledged their support with a $10,000 donation towards the project.

Perth East councilor Amanda Brodhagen says the donation is an amazing way to show support and give the kids in the area something to look forward to.

“We’re really excited we were able to do that. We don’t have a township owned park in that particular hamlet community. This is our way to show support for that community and ensure the children there get what they need and deserve.” said Brodhagen

Donations continued to be accepted for the project. While the upgrades weren’t set to begin until Summer 2023, the support has pushed to move ahead of schedule with hopes to have the install over March Break.
