Rescue operations continue to Sudbury for 39 trapped people stuck underground at Vale’s Totten Mine.
Miners went underground at 7:30am on Sunday to start their shifts when at 11:30am an incident had occurred which caused damage to the shaft.
Officials from Ontario Mine Rescue say operations to rescue include those who are able to climb ladders as well as ropes to pull up the exhausted and older who cannot climb the whole way up with a ladder.
Regardless of the method, all 39 miners are expected to surface.
