Strike Action Averted as CUPE and Government Reach Tentative Deal

Strike action has been averted as students will stay in class as CUPE workers will avoid the picket lines following a tentative deal being reached with the provincial government.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees says an agreement on wages was reached with both sides agreeing to a $1 per hour raise each year.

The union was still looking for $100 million in guarantees of higher staffing levels for their workers which includes librarians, custodians and secretaries as well as early childhood educators.
