Stratford Police arrest Two Suspects in Flight from Police & Assault of Officers

The Stratford Police have arrested a male and a female after an incident at a Stratford Canadian Tire gas bar on Tuesday.

Officers were conducting an investigation regarding a stolen vehicle and had attended the site at 1101 Ontario Street.

Once there officers observed a 27-year old male of Mitchell & a 30-year-old female of Goderich in a Black Dodge RAM pickup that was confirmed stolen out of Parkhill.

The male suspect was known to Police and was bonded by a probation order after various conviction including flight from an officer, 2 driving prohibitions, and more.

The male suspect assaulted an officer while trying to escape police. The female suspect attempted to drive away with an officer hanging onto the vehicle.

He was dragged alongside the vehicle before falling and nearly being runover.

The officer suffered several injuries and was transported to hospital.

The two were located Wednesday afternoon in Dublin while waiting for a train to pass.

The suspects drove directly at an officer on foot during the arrest and two cruiser was damaged.

The male was apprehended when he attempted to flee on foot and the female was arrest without incident in the vehicle.

As a result of the incidents both have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and the female with dangerous driving.

The male was also charged with driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, resisting arrest and breach of probation.

They both are set to appear before a court on January 31st.

The officer involved in the first incident was later released after receiving treatment. He will remain off work for an undetermined amount of time and is now resting at home with family.
