Stratford & Guelph Police set to receive funding for License Plate Recognition

MPP for Perth-Wellington Matthew Rae announced today that local police forces in Perth & Wellington County are set to receive funding to incorporate Automatic License Plate Recognition Technology into their fleet.

Stratford Police will be receiving just under $170,000 and the city of Guelph just under $525,000.

The ALPRT system alerts officers to stolen or expired plates, or plates registered to suspended drivers.

It can also notify officers of missing and wanted persons and vehicles associated with AMBER alerts.

The funding is a one-time grant to help police strengthen roadside law enforcement & improve public safety.
