Stratford council is going ahead with a detailed design on a controversial renewable natural gas project.
Despite some councilors against the move, the vote passed 6-4 and will now proceed with the project for the Stratford water pollution control plant. What caused a stir from council saying the move is too quick on the matter and council not having a price gauge of renewable natural gas once the facility is running.
Ed Dujlovic, Stratfords infrastructure director said the answer to that concern will be more clear in the new year but for the time being is going forward with hiring the Waterloo based company, GHD LTD for the project.
The cost for the project is slotted just under $400,000, which a third of can be covered from a $5 million grant from the Ontario’s Centre for Excellence.
