Stratford and Community Mourns passing of Veteran Archie Ranney

Perth Wellington MP John Nater posted to his social media his condolences at the news of the passing of World War II veteran Archie Ranney at the age of 103.

Ranney was born in Ellice Township and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was stationed overseas for five years.

On his return he was employed at Ontario Hydro until his retirement. He was an avid member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and spent many years helping Veterans acquire government assistance.

He enjoyed golfing, curling, snowmobiling and a friendly game of cards.

MP Nater says that when he first met Archie he was immediately struck by his positive personality and sense of humour.

Archie is survived by his sister Enid Maitland, daughter Pat, son Ron and wife Jodi, grandchildren Alex, Julia and step grandson Zach.
