Education Minister Stephen Lecce is calling on the federal government to plan ahead of ensure there will be enough COVID-19 vaccines for children and youth.
In a letter to federal ministers, Lecce says Canada must look ahead and be prepared in obtaining and distributing vaccines to students and children as soon as they get approved by Health Canada.
Lecce adding vaccinating youth will be a critical part in ending the pandemic.
Last week Moderna announced it was looking to recruit Canadian children aged from 6 months to 12 years old for upcoming trails of their COVID-19 vaccine.
