The Town of St Marys is getting the public involved for Ontario’s Test Your Smoke Alarm Day on September 28th.
This annual initiative serves as a reminder of the role smoke alarms play in saving lives and the need for fire safety awareness and a home fire escape plan.
Phil West, St Mary’s Fire Chief says in a fire you have less than 60 seconds to escape safely and working smoke alarms give you those vital seconds.
Every home in Ontario is required by law to have working smoke alarms one very storey and outside sleeping areas.
