Spring Melt Starting Across UTRCA Watershed

Spring melt is starting across the area and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is reminding residents to use extreme caution near all watercourses and to stay out of any flooded areas.

Data from the watershed shows the snow pack has around 75-110mm of water. With 20-30mm of rain expected and some thunderstorms along with warmer temperatures today, snow packs will be melting.

The UTRCA expects rivers, streams and ditches to rise and spill into low lying floodplain areas.

Residents are reminded to use extreme caution near all watercourses, stay out of flooded areas and not drive through flooded roads.

Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from rivers, streams, ponds and ditches as stream banks can be slippery and unstable.
