South Bruce to Hold DGR Referendum After October Election

South Bruce has decided it will hold a DGR referendum but it won’t be taking place until after the next municipal election.

This will determine South Bruce’s willingness to be the site of an underground storage facility for Canada’s nuclear fuel bundles.

South Bruce and the Township of Ignace, between Thunder Bay and Kenora are the only 2 municipalities left to be considered for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization’s proposed repository.

Council will prepare a willingness question for voters via the referendum after the election which will take place in October.
