SIU Closes Investigation of Incident at South Huron Hospital

The Special Investigations Unit has wrapped up an investigation into an incident at the South Huron Hospital in September.

The incident involved a 41 year old man arriving to the emergency department by ambulance in Exeter on September 15th.

Hospital staff contacted police after the man went into a washroom and refused to leave.

Police forced entry and found the man embedded in the ceiling who after 3 hours of negotiating got him down who was diagnosed with fractured ribs and sepsis.

SIU Director Joseph Martino says the officers acted accordingly who says evidence suggest his ribs fractures likely occurred as he scaled into the ceiling.
