Second Blue-Green Algae Bloom Spotted in Belwood Lake

A second suspected blue-green algae bloom has been seen upstream in the Belwood Lake reservoir.

The bloom was noticed on the Wellington Road 26 bridge with previous notices for the blooms at Belwood Lake, Guelph Lake and Shade’s Mills resevoirs still in effect.

Those who see blue-green algae in the water which can look like spilled blue or green paint are asked to keep children and pets away, don’t swim in areas where you see scum and don’t eat fish from the lake.

Boating is still allowed where permitted but algae contact should be avoided.
