The Seaforth siren has been shutoff after an order from Huron-Perth Public Health.
The health unit made the order after testing found the siren had gone over the World Health Organization’s guideline for single noise events.
Public health had made the request to shutoff the siren in November though Huron East council decided they wouldn’t but this recent order comes with a fine of $25,000 if its not done.
Staff is expected to return to council with a report to see if the siren can be dropped below 110 decibels.
