Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae’s private members bill to promote agri-tourism in the province is being referred to its final reading.
Dubbed the Growing Agritourism Act, Rae says the main goal is to protect farmers from liability from hosting visitors on their farm.
The act is written that farmers don’t have to eliminate the risks inherent in an agritourism related activity and so long as operators have signage warning of risks, they will be limited from liability.
The bill has been widely supported from the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and other farm related organizations.
