Premier Doug Ford was in Kenilworth this morning, helping mark an announcement of nearly $29 million in funding for Perth and Wellington Counties.
The province is dishing out funding as part of an $857 million investment in the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream aimed to protect more than 5500 homes, support new housing and keep workers on the job.
Wellington North will see a share of $26,097,500 for the Arthur Wastewater Treatment Plant, West Perth will receive $2,053,125 for the Herbert Street Sewage Pumping Station and Perth East will get $675,250 for the Milverton Well Replacement and Reservoir Rehabilitation.
Premier Ford says this is one step towards the future to address housing and the expected increasing population in the counties.
“It’s beautiful here to raise a family…when I was driving along here I asked my assistant to pull up the costs of home’s here and they’re still pretty high I was shocked. We’re going to continue investing in the future and investing years down the road.” said Ford.
“This nearly $29 million commitment will strengthen water systems, improve community assets and unlock new housing opportunities across Wellington and Perth Counties, which will support economic growth and ensure we are protecting our communities for the next generation.” said MPP Matthew Rae.
