The provincial government has introduced new measures to support rural communities.
The announcement was made at the annual Rural Ontario Municipal Association conference with these measures including a new Rural Economic Development Strategy announced by MPP Lisa Thompson with $10 million in annual funding for the new program to support economic growth, workforce capacity and business development.
Further, the government is also opening applications for the $175 million Health and Safety Water Stream of the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program to ensure communities have access to safe drinking water, reliable wastewater services and are protected during extreme weather events.
