The two are located in Durham Region and the move takes effect as of April 5th. They are also the only two provincially owned highways that shared tolls.
The Premier announced the move in Whitby this afternoon that follows a request from a few of the Durham Regions Mayors that had requested the move.
Highway 407, which is owned by subsidiaries of the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board, Ferrovial S.A. and SNC. Lavalin, is now the only remaining toll highway in the Province outside of border crossings.
