As of midnight on Thursday, Ontario will enter a state of emergency and run with stay at home orders.
Residents are asked to only leave the home for essential reasons such as buying groceries or going to medical appointments. Employers are urged to have their employees work from home. Premier Doug Ford says this was the best option, saying a province wide curfew is a poor solution.
“The last thing I’ve ever believed in is having a curfew. When you pull out of your driveway after 8pm the police are chasing you down the street. I do not believe in that.” said Premier Ford.
The Ontario government will provide more details regarding the stat at home order later this afternoon
