Wellington County OPP are investigating two separate vehicle thefts from a private residence in Erin.
On January 13th at around 3:45am a black Ford pickup truck was taken from Erinlea Crescent and then at 4:45am a red Ford pickup was stolen from Barbour Drive.
In both cases suspects showed up in a Mercedes-Benz SUV, entered and started the vehicles without the keys.
Surveillance captured the suspects looking at the VIN number of one of the vehicles.
Police say with newer vehicles with push starts the ensure your vehicle is always locked and to store your keys away from doors and windows and to cover your vehicles dashboard VIN number so thieves can’t manufacture databases to create a clone key.
