Health Canada has announced the Pfizer-Biotech COVID-19 vaccine is safe to give to children aged 12 and up.
The federal health agency says it will begin to administer the vaccine to those aged 12-15 after initially only approving to those 16 and up.
The vaccine is an mRNA vaccine which teaches cells how to make a protein which triggers an immune response.
Canada is on track to receive even more vaccines from Pfizer every week until the end of June. To date, the country has received 11 million doses.
Canada will receive at least 2 million doses every week as the vaccine rollout begins to open up.
