Perth County used funding from the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund to help lessen the burden on taxpayers struggling during these tough times. The $216,000 utilized will results in an corresponding increase in next years budget.
Perth County council has already estimated their starting point next year could be a 6.6% increase.
The 2021 budget levy increase will mean that the average property owner with a property valued at $258,000 would see an increase in their County property taxes of $17.25.
Owners of agricultural farmland assessed at $1.5 million could see an increase of $25.52.
One issue at play is that the last MPAC assessments for property owners was in 2016. Council requested with the County Treasurer to find out when the Ontario government would release more up-to date data.
