Perth County Pandemic Spending Slotted at $1.53 Million

Perth County has spent $1.53 million in costs brought on by the pandemic in 2020.

County Treasurer, Corey Bridges broke down the numbers on spending throughout the county.

In his report, $1.9 million was spent by paramedic services, $271,000 for public works, $67,000 spent by economic development and tourism which was spent on COVID-19 tests with $55,000 for technology services.

The remaining $46,000 was split up between different departments.

To help cover the costs around $968,000 has been allotted to the county from the provincial Ministry of Health and $560,000 coming from the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The county has also been approved over $180,000 in the provinces Safe Restart funding to help cover COVID-19 related costs.
