The Palmerston Hospital Foundation MRI Campaign is nearing its goal of $8 million, now just under $2 million left to raise.
Getting such equipment like this is always on fundraising with the government who pays to run the hospital but its local charities and hospital foundations who raise the funds needed for vital equipment.
The committee behind the campaign has been overwhelmed in the last couple years from events to donations coming both large and small.
Dan Hill with the MRI Committee says bringing in an MRI for Palmerston will be huge in the rural community.
“The big thing with the MRI is you don’t realize how many people use, have used or know people that have used and need to travel just to get an MRI. The waiting list is huge so shortened that waiting list is important for everyone in the community” said Hill.
The committee has until the end of 2025 to come up the last stretch of the funds. Those are able to give can jump of the Palmerston Hospital Foundation website.
