Stolen military medals from a storage locker has resulted in a happy ending with police eventually finding the owner of the stolen medals.
West Grey Police made an appeal on social media for the owner of stolen medals they had recovered.
With the help of the community, the owner was found with Stan Haycock saying he was contacted by a friend from the Legion.
“A friend of mine from the Legion is the first one who called me at 8 o’clock in the morning. He said he saw it on the West Grey Police. He sent me pictures of it. We had quite the talk. I thanked him for it.” said Haycock.
Haycock says he had the medals taken from a storage locker in his condo building earlier in the year.
Haycock has a history of military service who served 25 years in the military and 6 years with the navy.
Haycock adds more items are still outstanding and hopes the suspect has links to the other lost items.
Once the items have been verified, West Grey Police say more charges will be laid on the suspect.
