Huron County OPP were on the scene on Black’s Point Road, west of Huron Road in Central Huron on Monday.
An overturned tractor trailer was the cause of the police presence with a truck load of pigs on board the trailer.
OPP kept the road closed for some time eventually reopening Monday night.
Police say 12 animals perished in the incident with the driver also being charged with Careless Driving.
