Over 40 students with the Avon Maitland District School Board have earned an apprenticeship over this past school year.
Much of the success has been seen from the promotion of skilled trades and apprenticeship pathway to students in elementary school.
The assistance from elementary school helps build the decision by the time in grade 11 and 12 and have at least a small understanding of which trade they would like to pursue and get into co-op programs to give some skills in trade become part of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program.
AMDSB also works to help students prepare on a co-op by the time they get into grade 11.
