OPP across the province responded to four fatal traffic incidents over the Labour Day long weekend, two in road collisions and two in separate off road vehicle incidents.
Officers laid a total of 7,331 traffic charges across the province with speeding accounting for 4,877 of them. 151 were stunt/racing charges, 259 with failure to wear a seatbelt, 100 alcohol/drug related incidents as well as 75 distracted driving charges.
Officers also laid 85 marine related charges and 47 from off road vehicles.
Across the West Region, 1411 charges were given out of 1682 traffic stops. 953 being speeding, 28 stunt, 25 alcohol/drug, 27 non seatbelt and 16 distracted.
OPP thank all drivers who did their part in keeping roads, trails and waterways safe over the long weekend.
